Pentagon is considering nuclear attacks as a response to cyber attacks. The New York Times reported that the Defense Department's 2018 Nuclear Posture Review, details whether to retaliate against a cyber attack aimed at the United States by way of nuclear strikes against the culprit. This comes in response to years of cyber hacks and attacks as well as rumors of attacks by North Korea and others. This is being pushed as a strategy to scare U.S enemies that have the ability to attack the United States through cyber warfare. The New York states that a cyber attack does not mean there will automatically be a nuclear response. In extreme conditions of a cyber attack, then this strategy may come into play.
